Congratulations to the Creative Steps Dance Company of Tilton, NH. Students of this performance company were selected to compete for American Dance Awards in Orlando, Florida and Headliners Performing Arts Competition in Providence, Rhode Island this summer. These competitions consisted of all forms of dance from ballet to tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, and acro.     Creative Steps Dance Company is a competitive performance group of dancers, ages 6 through 18, who reside in Concord, the Lakes Region, and White Mountain areas and compete at regional events throughout the year. This year they competed regionally at Dance Ovations in Exeter, NH, Headliners Performing Arts Competition, The American Dance Awards in Concord, NH and Dance Xplosion in Andover, MA.

The Company performed 22 routines with several placing in the top 3 throughout the season. They were also honored to win many judges choice, entertainment, and choreography awards.Dancers from across the United States and Canada competed at the American Dance Awards in Orlando, Florida in over 1,500 entries.The Creative Steps Dance Company held their own, as 6 of its performers competed in the tap, lyrical and jazz categories.

They competed 11 pieces with outstanding results. Their small group jazz routine “Funky Music” and tap solo “Low Rider” both received a high silver award. Tap solos “Rubber Biscuit”, “Show Me”, and “Oye Como Va”, as well as the duo tap “Rival Rhythm” and group tap numbers “The Beat” and “Pressure” all received Gold Awards with “Pressure” placing first in its category. Tap solo “Cool” and tap duo “Sibling Rivalry” both received an Ultimate Gold Award for their performance.The solo “Cool” placed in the top 15 of all the junior solos. The lyrical solo “Shiver Me Timbers” was honored to compete in the Title competition which consisted of the top 35 junior female soloists from the U.S. and Canada. In addition to the above awards, these dancers were also honored to receive multiple judge’s awards for their clean technique, original choreography, and entertainment value.

Five of Creative Steps Dance Company’s youngest members competed at Headliners Performing Arts competition in Providence, RI. They competed in the 6 and under category for their musical theater routine “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”. These young dancers made an impression by winning a Gold Award at their first national competition. The dancers have only a short time to enjoy their success, as they will be starting their new routines in August for the upcoming season.
